Key Points: Strong knowledge and skills in the CMMC framework are a hard requirement for this role
This position is hybrid in Spring, TX. It is NOT fully remote and non-local candidates will not be considered unless they will relocate on their own


Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Cloud Security Engineer/Architect to lead the development and enforcement of cloud security policies and procedures based on the CMMC (Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification) framework. This role is architecture-focused, not execution-based, and involves monitoring, auditing, and ensuring compliance with global security standards. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Azure cloud security and a strong background in securing government-related cloud environments in North America and Canada.


Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement security architecture and best practices for cloud environments in compliance with CMMC requirements.
Define security policies, standards, and procedures to ensure compliance with government and industry regulations.
Conduct risk assessments, audits, and security reviews to identify vulnerabilities and implement remediation strategies.
Oversee cloud traffic security, encryption standards (FIPS 140-2), and identity management strategies.
Lead security monitoring efforts using Prisma Cloud, Splunk, and other security tools.
Work closely with internal teams and government agencies to ensure compliance with CMMC and other regulatory frameworks.
Guide incident response planning, threat detection, and vulnerability management.
Provide subject matter expertise in Microsoft Azure security and best practices for securing virtual networks and cloud-based infrastructures.
Collaborate with stakeholders to develop secure cloud architecture strategies that align with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
Stay updated on emerging security threats, evolving CMMC requirements, and new security technologies.


Required Qualifications & Experience: 7+ years of experience in cloud security engineering/architecture.
Strong understanding of CMMC framework and its application to cloud security.
Expertise in Microsoft Azure cloud security (securing virtual networks, identity management, cloud traffic monitoring).
Hands-on experience with encryption technologies (FIPS 140-2 compliance) and data protection mechanisms.
Proficiency with security monitoring tools such as Prisma Cloud, Splunk, and other SIEM solutions.
In-depth knowledge of cloud compliance, risk assessment, and regulatory standards.
Experience securing government-related cloud environments.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to define security strategies, guide teams, and enforce compliance without direct implementation.


Preferred Qualifications: CMMC certification (preferred but not mandatory).
Previous experience working in government, defense, or highly regulated industries.
Familiarity with Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) and advanced cloud security models.
Experience working with Canadian and North American government cybersecurity regulations.
